Abstract
A natural antiniicrobit)! Finish has hcen prepared from the Mentha sacholinensis
(Vlint) stem extracts for textile application, do determine suitahle solvent for
extraction various methods such as ethanol, methanol, and aqueous were used.
Similarly to optimize the concentration, time and temperature for the finish
of the fabric, pilot study was carriedout. d'he herbal source have been applied
to cotton fabric , by the method of Ultrasonic Automiser, Padding mangle
and Di}) and chy. All the treated samples had excellent general appearance
and exhibit good physical, mechanical, comfort and absorbency properties.
Moderate to hiir washing fastness wt\s noted. 'Fhe surface morphological studies
tising SEM aiid FTIR showed, the surl'ace coating and active compounds
of tlte (,'xtracts respectively. 'Fhe results of the sttidy j^roved’ that the Me/ntha
sachaUmmsis (mint) stem extract,s to have good antimicrobial activity suitable
for textile finishing.
