Increasing use o f textile chemicals and their impact on health of humans and environment has created interest in natural, safer and simpler resources again. Natural colour cotton is one such novel fibre which can answer many of our concerns. Though the research in this area is being conducted for quite some time, it has not yet reached the common man. Consumers are always in constant search for new fabrics and designs at affordable prices. One o f the reasons for disappearance o f colour cotton was the poor quality o f the fibres as compared to white cotton. With the constant efforts o f plant breeders improved colour cotton genotypes have been released. The present study aims at bringing out similarities and differences between color cotton and conventional white cotton to understand the possibilities creating newer blends and union fabrics using colour cotton. The results revealed that most o f the colour cotton properties are comparable with that o f white cotton and thus it qualifies to be a suitable option for the purpose.en_US
