Abstract
Biogenic synthesis of silver nanoparticleswas achieved using extracts fromsixteen commonly available plants by
sonication method. The formation of AgNPs was confirmed by UV–Visible spectral, XRD and TEM analyses. The
results of TEManalysis reveal mostly spherical-shaped AgNPs of size 5–25 nmAgNPs. Antibacterial assay carried
out for the biosynthesized AgNPs against bacteria (Escherichia coli, Salmonella paratyphi, Staphylococcus aureus
and Bacillus subtilis) disclosed excellent antibacterial activity. Thismay be due to the small-sized nature of particles
diffusing through the agar resulting in good antimicrobial activity.
