The corrosion inhibition of mild steel in IM HCI by Canna Indicci flower extract (CIFE) has been studied by mass loss method and electrochemical techniques (potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy). The results showed that increase in concentration of CIFE decreases the rate of mild steel dissolution which indicates the inhibitive behaviour of CIFE in acid medium. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results showed that corrosion inhibition of mild steel occurred mainly by charge transfer process. The potentiodynamic polarization results revealed that the acid extracts of CIFE act as mixed type inhibitor. SEM studies provide strong evidence for the protection of mild steel surface by CIFE inhibitor. Keywords: Corrosion, Mild steel, Canna Indica (lower extract (CIFE), Acid medium, SEM.en_US
