Rapid industrialization has led to the onset of increased utilization of steel in various industries. Their encounter with aqueous corrosive environment in industrial application makes them susceptible to corrosion. This has lead to the search of better and efficient protection methods for the prevention of corrosion. A global phenomenon, corrosion manifests in various forms and the losses due to corrosion are enormous. Application of inhibitors to prevent corrosion is a widely accepted form of protection as it is one of the easily available methods. In recent years the usage of natural products as corrosion inhibitors is gaining momentum due to environmental considerations. In this direction, the present review highlights the role of phyto-chemical constituents present in the plant extracts on different types of steel in various media.en_US
