- ItemBiosorption of Textile Effluent Using Sugarcane Bagasse(2016) Vigneshpriya, DThe aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of sugarcane bagasse adsorption capacity for textile effluent. The adsorption process was investigated in a batch mode of operation under the optimize condition of amount of adsorbent, initial concentration of dye, contact time, pH, and temperature on textile effluent. The dried sugarcane bagasse sorbent was ground and sieved into 150pm size. Furtlier investigation of the sorption process was done using the FTIR, SEM analysis. The experiment showed that the high removal percentage at PH 6, temperature 35° C with a retention time of 100 minutes. The optimum dose amount of adsorbent was 0.3g/ ml. The results obtained in this work indicated that the potential use of sugarcane bagasse as a biosorbent is feasible method for the treatment of textile effluent.

- ItemPhysicochemical Characterization of Textile Waste Water(2015) Vigneshpriya, D; Shanthi, EAn attempt was made to analyze the water quality o f the effluent from the textile industry. The effluent sample was collected from Karur, a textile city in Tamilnadu. In this investigation physicochemical parameters such as colour, odour, electrical conductivity (EC), temperature, total suspended solids (TSS), total dissolved solids (TDS), total solids (TS), pH, total alkalinity, total hardness, dissolved oxygen (DO), biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), chlorides, sulphates, phosphates, nitrate nitrogen, lead, nickel, zinc, chromium, copper, oil and grease were determined using standard procedures. The result o f this analysis was compared with the water quality standards o f BIS (Bureau o f Indian Standard). The effluent sample was dark violet in colour with objectionable odour. It showed high electrical conductivity, high TSS, TDS, TS values, alkaline pH, high BOD and COD, low DO, high amounts o f chlorides, nitrates, sulphates and also showed the presence o f heavy metals, oil and grease. It was observed that all the parameters studied exceeded the BIS limits.
