This programme helps the poor to reduce the level of hunger, repay the debts, sending their children to the school, tuition and getting better medical facilities. MGNREGA generates productive employment opportunities at rural areas really empowering rural women, leads to social equity and finally reduce the livelihood vulnerability index. On this background, an attempt is made to analyze the awareness and mechanism of getting work of MGNREGA programme. The main objectives of the study are to study the socio-economic profile of the beneficiaries, to estimate the awareness of the programme and to analyze the mechanism of getting work to be done under this Act. The study was conducted in the Periyanaickenpalayam block in Coimbatore District and the data is collected with a structured questionnaire. The target group is the person registered under this MGNREGA programme, and the list is received from the President of the Block. The findings of the study revealed that above ninety percent of the beneficiary were women. Most of the people were aware of the programme nd they bring their own equipment for the work, and every beneficiary of the MGNREGA act had easy access and received their job card.Item Awarness and Work Mechanisms of MGNREGA at Thnondamuthur Block in Coimbatore District(2014) Rajalakshmi, SMahatma Gandhi NREGA seeks to enhance the livelihood security of the households in rural areas of the country by providing at least 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in every financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work. The Act seeks to create durable assets and strengthen the livelihood resource base of the rural poor. The choice of works suggested in the Act address causes of chronic poverty like drought, deforestation, soil erosion, so that the process of employment generation is on a sustainable basis. Out of 60 per cent of the (10.9millon) deaths happens annually in global level among under five, over twothird of these deaths are associated with inappropriate feeding practices. No research has under taken on imparting knowledge on breast feeding among girls at university level. Hence this study was planned with the objectives of assessing the knowledge on breast feeding and educating the girls on scientific information on breast feeding. 500 female students were selected in the age group of 18- 25 years. Interview schedule was used to gather information from the subjects. Both pre and post assessment was done. The highlights of the research are enhanced their confidence and knowledge on breast feeding and choices on infant feeding. The majority of the students (girls) has acquired the knowledge on breast feeding practices and in future the knowledge gained by them leads to contribute to reduce the mortality among infant, lower risk of obesity and asthma, reduction in the incidence of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The students had changed their attitude on breastfeeding techniques in positive way.
