Inhibition of Calcium Oxalate Crystallization in Vitro by Extract of Banana Cultivar Monthan
    (2013) Kalpana, S
Obieclivc: To study the ciTect on>anana ciiltivar Mnnthan conn extract lor its antililhiatic piUential under in vitro condition. Method.s: Banana ciiltivar Mnnthan conn extracts of diKerent solvents vvilli varying polarity were tested for it.s antililliiatic potential. Kidney stone formation was studied under in vitro conditions using three crilical as.say.s such as crystal midcation, aggregation and growth. The effect of extract on tlie formation and inhibition of crystals were observed spcctrnphntnmcli ically and the resiilts were presented in this paper. Results: The results of the in vitro assays performed indicate that ethanol extract of Monthan readily prevented crystal nuclcation, growth and aggregation. Conclusion: Monthan conn juice is found to be an effective diuretic, and act as a promoter foi* inhibitors of crystallization.
