Item Influence of socio-economic status and parenting style on academic accomplishment and adjustment among college students(2015) Sunil Smrithi; Jeffrin Margreat JA study was done to assess the relationship between Socio-economic Status and Parenting Style on Academic Accomplishment and Adjustment, among college students of the age group 18-22, currently pursuing undergraduation. The sample was collected in colleges in and around Coimbatore, by the method of purposive sampling, so as to fulfill the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data was analyzed by performing Pearson's Product Moment Correlation and interpreted. The results show lack of correlation between Socio-economic Status and Academic Accomplishment as well as Adjustment. There is a correlation between Parenting Style of mother and Adjustment as well as Academic Accomplishment, whereas the Parenting Style of the father is correlated only with Adjustment. They were in the age range of 35-70 years under medication. The patients with high scores in Hopelessness and low in brief coping were selected for the study. The tools used for assessment were case study AQ3,4 schedule, Beck hopelessness scale (Beck, 1978), and brief coping scale (Carver, 1997). The psychological intervention, "rational emotive behavior therapy" (REBT) was administered to the patients. After 15 days, the re-assessment was given using the same questionnaires. The results indicated a significant reduction in the mean hopelessness with increase in coping strategies. This clearly indicates the effect of REBT in coping among breast cancer patients.Item Management of illness perception and coping among breast cancer patients(2014) Rohini, N S; Jeffrin Margreat JThe study on "Management of Illness Perception and coping among Breast Cancer Patients" was conducted in Coimbatore Cancer Foundation (CCF) in G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, Coimbatore by purposive sampling method. Seventy five breast cancer patients served as the sample. They were in the age range of 35-70 years under medication. The patients with high scores in Illness perception and low in Brief coping were selected for the study. The tools used for assessment were Case Study Schedule, Illness Perception Questionnaire (Broadbent et al 2006) and Brief Coping Scale (Carver, 1997). The psychological intervention, "Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy" (REBT) was administered to the patients. After 15 days the Re-assessment was given by using the same Questionnaires. The results indicated a significant reduction in the mean Illness Perception with increase in coping strategies. This clearly indicates the effect of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy in coping among breast cancer patients.Item Self- Esteem, Locus of Control and Happiness among Female Adolescents.(2015) Anurckha; Jeffrin Margreat JThe present study was done to find out the relationship between self- esteem, locus of control and happiness in female adolescents. The sample consisted of 62 college students. The data was collected from the various colleges in Coimbatore. The tools used were Ox ford's Happiness Questionnaire, Rosenberg's Self- Esteem Scale and Locus of Control Scale developed by Levenson. The results of this study revealed thateighty six percentage of the sample were having internal locus of control. The variables happiness and self- esteem are positively correlated with each other at 0.05 level and there is a significant influence of self- esteem over happiness. There is no relationship between socioeconomic status and self- esteem of the sample
