Item ANXIETY AIMD DECISION-MAKIIMG STYLES OF COLLEGE STUDENTS(2012) Gayatridevi, SThe present study was conducted to find out the effect o f anxiety on decision-making styles among college students. Two hundred students were randomly selected from various departments of different colleges in Coimbatore, between the age group o f 20 to 24 years. The Decision-Making Questionnaire by Mann (1982) and Sinha’s Anxiety Scale (1968) were used. Findings revealed that if the students become more anxious they tend to adopt vigilant decisionmaking style; female students were higher in defensive avoidance and rationalization than their male counterparts.Item Anxiety and Decision-making styles of college students(2012) Gayatridevi, SItem Attitude towards Marriage and Family Environment among Married and Unmarried Women(2019-04) Sowndarya Priya, S; Gayatridevi, SItem AUGMENTATION OF EMOTIONAL MATURITY AND ADJUSTMENT AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTS USING BEHAVIOUR THERAPY(2015) Gayatridevi, S; Nirmala. SFrom Madurai Kamaraj University Evening College, Periyakulam, Theni, Tamil Nadu, 81 students (41 males and 40 females) were screened using the Case Study Schedule (Gayatridevi and Nirmala, 2010), Curiosity and Exploration Inventory (Kashdan, 2007, Emotional Maturity Scale (Hemalatha, 1989) and College Adjustment Test (Pennebaker, 1990). The age range of the subjects was from 17-19 years. The entire subjects were given individual sessions of Behaviour Therapy (Lazarus, 1958) for one hour per session for 8 days. After 8 sessions of Behaviour Therapy, all the subjects were reassessed using Case Study Reassessment Schedule, Curiosity and Exploration Inventory, Emotional Maturity Scale and College Adjustment Test. The results revealed that initially, the subjects had 'Low' levels of Curiosity and Exploration, Emotional Maturity and Adjustment. After Behaviour Therapy, the subjects had increased levels of Curiosity and Exploration, Emotional Maturity and Adjustment respectively. The mean of Curiosity and Exploration, Emotional Maturity and Adjustment before and after Behaviour Therapy were statistically significant at 0.01 levels. Mental health is defined as a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fiiiitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community. Adjustment is the behavioural process by which humans and other animals maintain equilibrium among their various needs and the obstacles of their environments. The present study examines the effect of mental health on the adjustment of adolescents on various dimensions like home, health, social, emotional and occupational adjustment. The study was conducted on 100 adolescents from rural background in Kerala. Mental Health Questionnaire developed by Priya Daniel and Bell’s Adjustment Inventory were used in the study. Statistical analysis like‘t’ test and Pearson correlation was done and the results showed that there is significant difference among the mental health status of girls and boys. It was also found that there is a significant difference among their adjustment in various aspects like emotional and social adjustment. All these, in turn, will affect the well-being of the parents. To help the Parents of the Mentally Challenged to manage Stress, Depression and Enhance their General Well-being through Positive Therapy. 100 parents of mentally challenged were selected through purposive sampling from Saanidhya Residential School, M.V. Shetty School, Chetana Special School, Lions Special School and Mangala Jyothi Integrated School, Mangalore, Karnataka. They were assessed using Case Study Schedule, Stress Inventory and WHO General Well-being Index. Psychological Intervention, Positive Therapy was administered to parents of the mentally challenged for 6 sessions, each session lasting for about one hour, over a period of 2 weeks on alternate days. After 2 weeks the entire subjects were reassessed using Case Study Reassessment Schedule, Stress Inventory and WHO General Well-being Index. Followup was done after 6 months. After undergoing Positive therapy the parents of the mentally challenged had a significantly reduced level of stress and depression further general well-being was very well enhanced. There was statistically significant difference in the stress, depression and general well-being before, after and follow-up. Thus Positive Therapy was found to be effective in the management of stress, depression and enhancement of general well-being.Item EMOTIONAL COMPETENCY CLUSTERS AND STAR PERFORMER IN SOFTWARE PROJECT TEAM(2011) Gayatridevi, STeams are almost imperative in contemporary business firms and interaction in teams points to the importance of emotional abilities for personal and organizational success. Emotional competence is a skill needed in all these roles in order to understand other team members and to bond with them to ensure team cohesion and productivity. Emotional Competencies are the outgrowth of Emotional Intelligence (El) developed by Daniel Coleman (1998) reflects an individual's potential for mastering the skills of four domalns/clusters viz.,Self-Awareness, Self- Management, Social Awareness, and Relationship Management resulting in eighteen Emotional Competencies nested in the four clusters. The present study aimed at identifying the Emotianal Competencies in groupings, across clusters, that allow competencies to support one another in a software project team and to identify the star perfarmer of a software project team who would exhibit higher competencies and demonstrate strengths than other members of the team.
