Item Appraising Perceived Self-Efficacy and its Influence on Specific Efficacy Outcomes(2011) Arockia Maraichelvi, KItem stress Inoculation Training [SIT) in Improving Resilience and Coping Stress Repertoires among School Children— \ Proposal for Practice(2012) Arockia Maraichelvi, K-The preexisting stressM situations of the school children take up a higher altitude while they fade t!ic competitive public exnin.s of th.e Indian sysurm o f education. This critical situation gets v.’orsened with the high and unrealisric oxpeciarions of thelsociefy in garieral and parents in particular, anti the faiiurc of coping nu'chanisnis among ic.-idiens dealing wish tliese chikircfii. Sorhe pEOposed study dales out with the rationale of employing School Stress Inoculation Training Programme on a preventative hasis to inoculate school: children, their phrehts ahci teachers to future stressors and investigate its effect on stress coping repertoires and the well being of the schopT children. The Stress Inoculation Training (SIT) approach is designed to iihpart skills to -enhance their resistance to stress, and practice a repertoire of coping skills augmenting the capability to re.spond effectively in ihe present and future stressful situations:.. The key objective of the study is to s;repare students, teachers and parents to respev-xi more favorably to negative stress events by training them ;Ph effectiye coping skills even before stress exposure and assess its efScacy over the well being and , performance Of school children.Item Stress Inoculation Training- a Boon for School Children(2012) Arockia Maraichelvi, KStress is a condition or feeling experienced when a person perceives that demand exceed the personal and social resources the individual is able to m obilise. Studies o f stress have shown that stress imposes a h igh co st on individual’s productivity, health and happiness. The student’s perception o f an action or behavior can, precipitate whether the stress is good or bad for them. School children today face increasing amounts o f schoolwork, a rapidly changing curriculum, assignment deadlines and exams; they worry about selecting careers and post secondary programs, and they must balance schoolwork with sports, hobbies and social life. Stress hroculation Training (SIT) has been einployed on a treatment basis to help individuals cope with the aftermath o f exposure to stressful events and on a preventative basis to “inoculate” individuals to iiiture and ongoing stressors. The primary purpose o f stress inoculation, training is to prepare the individual to perform effectively in the stress environment. The SIT approach is defined by a three-stage training intervention. In the initial conceptualization phase a collaborative relationship is established between the children and the trainer; and the children will gain knowledge and familiarity with the stress enviroranerit. The second phase o f Stress Inoculation focuses on skills acquisition and rehearsal that follows naturally from the initial conceptualization phase. This phase allows the children to maintain effective performance under stress. The final phase o f stress inoculation provides opportunities for the student to apply the variety o f coping skills across increasing levels o f stressors, the inoculation techniques such’as imagery and behavioral rehearsal, modeling, role-playing, and graded in vivo exposure in the form o f ‘personal experiments ’ are employed,, thereby building their performance confidence.Item Stress Level of 8™ Grade Students - Institution Specific Differences(2013) Arockia Maraichelvi, KAdolescence is suggestive o f some ancient period o f storm and stress. Students o f our generation face unparalleled pressure and challenges with society’s current emphasis on academic perfection. Stress manifests from the change in an individual’s thinking and their way o f life style. Students in their teens are the ones who are going through the transitional phase, which is an intermediate o f childhood and adulthood. Present study was undertaken to examine the perceived level o f stress among specific institutional differences and also to see relationship between the two independent variables (gender and age). For that purpose 528 students o f class 8th were selected randomly from two different schools out o f which 355 were taken from private and the remaining 173 were taken from government school. Questionnaire to elicit the general background o f the selected children and checklist to assess the stress level o f school children was used. Results indicated that magnitude o f stress was significantly higher among the government school students where as private school students were significantly better in terms o f their level o f stress. However, significant relationships between schools were found. For both the group o f students interaction between the student gender and the type o f school were found that private school boys are more stressed than their counterpart. Significant relationships between student age and type o f school were found for the both groups o f students and for each type o f school. This could be prominent that private schools student are less stress than counterpart. All students must be counselled for their high level o f stress with special focus on Government school students so that their approach to deal with stress can be changed.
