Effects of Neuromuscular Training and Yoga Training on Selected Motor Qualities of Pubertal Tribal Girl Students
    (Avinashilingam, 2025-01) Sobha K; Dr. Nandhini P
This study explores the Effects of Neuromuscular Training (NMT) and Yoga Training (YT) on selected motor qualities of pubertal tribal girl students, a demographic often underrepresented in sports science research. The motor qualities assessed included Speed, Agility, Flexibility, Muscular Strength Endurance, Cardiorespiratory endurance, and balance all of which play a critical role in physical fitness and overall motor performance.A total of 45 participants aged 12–15 years were selected and divided into three groups: the Neuromuscular Training group (NMT), the Yoga Training group (YT), and a Control group, each consisting of 15 students. The intervention was 16 weeks, with sessions conducted four times a week under supervised conditions. A pre-test and post-test design was implemented to evaluate the impact of the interventions. Standardized tests were used to measure each motor quality, ensuring reliability and validity. The results showed that when compared to the control group, which did not engage in any particular training, the Neuromuscular Training (NMT) and Yoga Training (YT) groups both showed notable increases in motor qualities. Because the activities were dynamic, the NMT group demonstrated significant improvements in speed, agility, flexibility, muscular strength endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, and balance. However, because yoga practice involves contemplative and controlled movements, the Yoga Training (YT) group saw larger increases in flexibility and balance. The need for tailored physical training programs for pubertal tribal girl students is highlighted by these findings, particularly in tribal communities where access to such programs is most appreciable. Because of their complementing advantages, yoga training (YT) and neuromuscular training (NMT) show promise for being incorporated into the physical education curriculum in schools. This would help indigenous girls' entire development in addition to promoting increased physical fitness. Keywords : Neuromuscular Training, Yoga Training, Motor Qualities, Pubertal Tribal Girls, Speed, agility, flexibility, muscular strength endurance, cardio respiratory endurance and balance.
